When this day began, first place and fourth place were separated by 4 1/2 pounds. But at 1:45 today, we’ve got a virtual four-way tie for first on the unofficial BASSTrakk scoreboard. Carl Jocumsen and Dustin DeMarion are tied for the lead with 46-15. Brandon Palaniuk (46-10) and Austin Felix (46-9) are within a half-pound.
Palaniuk has some extra motivation since his opening day mishap. At least that’s how he said he was turning a negative into positive. He self-reported a 2-pound penalty on Day 1 after making several casts before realizing he had failed to cull after his last catch and thus had six bass in his livewells.
