Keith Combs is the first angler outside of the Classic cut in the Bassmaster Angler of the Year race. Combs is in a tough spot this week at Smith Lake, though. He is watching as the Top 10 will battle it out today. His only hope is 8th place Robin Erb, who is 7-1 behind Nick LeBrun. Amazingly enough, four of the seven Opens winners this season didn’t fish the other events and their Classic spots went back to the Elite list.
With two events left, it may come down to Grand Lake for Combs, unfortunately for him.
