For a lot of reasons, Seth Feider wants to be among the top 50 Elite Series anglers at the AOY Championship next week on Mille Lacs Lake. One of reasons: The smallmouth bass fishing is incredible.
"Last year after I saw it was on the schedule, I went up there 12 days last fall," said Feider, who lives in Bloomington, Minn. "My worst day was (a 5-bass limit of) 26 pounds. I was averaging 29 pounds a day, and I broke 30 twice. I mean literally you'll catch 50 fish over 5 pounds a day."
Feider doesn't care if you think that sounds a bit too good to be true."You're going to see it next week," he said. "It's peaking right now. You can catch them any way you want to - from 2 feet to 25 feet."
