Evers going all out

Saturday presents a unique strategic circumstance for the anglers between the top and cut line of the leader board.

For those at the top, the choices are twofold. Managing the game plan, fishing conservatively and keeping within striking distance of the lead are one option. The other is swinging for the fence and going all out, which is what the anglers near 25th place must do.

BASSTrakk shows Edwin Evers in the lead and he is going all out with a purpose.

“Today is another day when I’ve got to catch everything I can, just go with it,” he told me this morning. “It’s springtime, there are weather changes, cold fronts and the fish are finicky.”

Taking advantage of any opportunity to keep ahead is the goal.

“As well as I have been fishing so far why not keeping going like that? I want to put as much weight on the scales as I can, 19 or 20 pounds would be good.”

The prevailing sky conditions are another reason for going all out. Today looks like a full day of cloud cover in contrast to the sunnier skies of yesterday. For bass moving into shallow water to spawn light conditions will be a factor.
