Ott DeFoe began his day on an emotional note by paying tribute to a dear friend.
Family members of Bill Terry boarded DeFoe’s boat on the most important day of his career. Inside an Orca cooler were Terry’s ashes that family members eventually spread into the waters of Grand Lake in his memory.
Terry, 41, passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 29, 2016. He was the vice president of sales for Orca and a passionate angler and supporter of tournament angling and youth involvement in the sport.
All season DeFoe will pay tribute to his friend with a special addition to the branding decal on his Nitro Z21 dashboard. It reads: “Orca In Memory of Bill Terry.”
