Elite field down two anglers

It seems like it has been ages since the last 2018 Bassmaster Elite Series event. Takahiro Omori won Event #1 at Alabama’s Lake Martin on Feb. 11th. A lot has happened since then, like Jordan Lee winning the Bassmaster Classic on March 18th at South Carolina’s Lake Hartwell.

Two off-the-water events have occurred since the Lake Martin tournament that have reduced the Elite Series field from 110 to 108. Mark Davis has undergone hip replacement surgery, and Luke Claussen suffered a fall that left him with a concussion, broken ribs and other injuries. Both anglers plan to be back on the Elite Series, but not until 2019.

Claussen finished 5th and Davis was 105th at Lake Martin. With the field down to 108, the Day Two cut this week at Grand Lake will be to the Top 50, rather than the Top 51 as it was with 110 anglers.
