Eastern Open – Guy Eaker’s Locking Tomorrow

Bassmaster legend Guy Eaker grabbed the early lead at the Basspro.com Bassmaster Eastern Open on the Kissimmee Chain with 11 pounds, 12 ounces, but the Cherryville, NC pro was clear on two points: First, his limit wouldn’t be anywhere near the top by day’s end. Second, he’s taking a ride tomorrow.

“I didn’t lock through today because I didn’t want to burn up the time (because I was in the first flight), but I caught some big fish in Lake Hatchineha during practice — several 6-pounders — so I’m going to lock down tomorrow.

Eaker caught his Day 1 fish by running a swim jig over grass. The bites, he said, were aggressive, so he’s eager to see if he can talk those Hatchineha fish into cooperating.
