The Wednesday leaderboard has Jason Christie in fourth place, and that is exactly where he wants to be.
I checked in with him at the service yard yesterday afternoon. While the work was getting done the Oklahoman sat in his boat, prepping for today. Not surprisingly, the deck was loaded with long rods. Flipping and pitching are a strong skill for Christie, who time and time again has proven it on the B.A.S.S. tour.
"I caught fish from one end of the lake to the other," he said.
Look for more of the same today. Christie will be running and gunning, looking for one size class of largemouth.
"You don't get 20 pounds here by catching 3- and 4-pounders. You get here by catching big fish."
He added, "It's vintage Florida fishing. You have to be on point all day long, and it's all about being continually focused on getting big bites."
A risk taker, look for Christie to swing for the fence today.
