The current situation

For everyone—and especially the offshore anglers—comes good news from the Tennessee Valley Authority. Today’s generation schedule calls for two or more generators to run, with more in store for Sunday and Monday.

While current is a must for offshore ledge fishing success, it will come into play in shallow water, too.

“There is so much eelgrass that when they turn off the current the fish spread out,” said Hank Cherry. “When the current comes back on it pushes the bass to the edges of the grass lines. They use those as ambush points,”

Cherry added that for him, the mixture of eelgrass and other varieties is another key. But above all else, the current will be turned on for Saturday. And so will the wind. Thunderstorms are in the forecast beginning at 1:30 p.m.
