Up a creek

We have followed shallow water expert John Cox to what I assume are the upper reaches of the Seneca River. I say “assume” because every time I thought we’d come to the end, there’s be another bridge, another fork, another cove that seemed to go on for miles. We went through Scott Martin’s boat wake 10 miles ago and I thought we’d gone far at that point.

We eventually traversed no fewer than 6 bridges, one rowing course, law enforcement divers looking for who-knows-what, and topography changes that went from steep to flat to steep and back again. We’re told that Cox lit ’em up first thing this morning, but has not caught a fish in 2 hours.

The water is dirty but not muddy up here. It’s protected from the wind and should hold heat. Two good bites in the remaining hours would go a long way.

Now he’s moving again, looking for dirtier water.
