Cox’s prediction looking good

The day before this tournament began, John Cox looked at the rainy, but warm weather forecast for this weekend and said, “The fishing is going to get so good those last two days.”

Well, we’re about a half-day into these last two days, and Cox’s prediction appears right on. At 11:30 this morning, 30 of the 50 anglers in this semifinal Saturday had five-bass limits. Cox jumped from deep in the standings to make it to today. He was 61st on Day 1 with only 3 bass totaling 7-1. He weighed a 15-7 limit yesterday to make the top 50 cut in 49th place. He was in 29th at 11:30 today with 12-4, according to BassTrakk.

The afternoon hours yesterday produced both Wes Logan’s 8-pound, 8-ounce big bass of the day, and Kenta Kimura’s runner-up 8-7, as well as many other stories about getting well in a hurry during the final hours. Stay tuned.
