Christie’s year

Jason Christie is an Oklahoman whose known strengths are putting together solid strategies in shallow water. A topwater frog and long rod come to mind as preferred tools of the trade. Christie has shallow water covered. He’s always a threat to win when such conditions are the prevailing patterns in a tournament.

On the flip side, Christie is proving his versatility throughout the water column, from shallow to deep. Proof is his scorecard for this season.

14th – Cherokee Lake
42nd – Lake Okeechobee
2nd – Toledo Bend
27th – Ross Barnett
7th – Sam Rayburn
72nd – Lake Dardanelle
19th – St. Lawrence River
5th – Lake Champlain
1st – Lake St. Clair

Ironically, and not likely coincidentally, two of his best performances (Lake Champlain, Lake St. Clair) came on powerhouse smallmouth fisheries. Mille Lacs is also on the list. From shallow to deep, largemouth to smallmouth. That proves why Christie is deserving of being in contention for Toyota Bassmaster Angler of the Year.
