Carp don’t count, Cliff

Yes, this fish does have a small mouth, but it’s a carp, of course. Cliff Prince had a battle with this carp today. Kudos to Prince’s skills in posing with a fish – keep your hand and fingers out of the photo and hold the fish close to the camera. It looks like a giant.

In addition to its world-class smallmouth bass fishing, the St. Lawrence River is home to some of the world’s best carp fishing as well. Waddington bills itself as the “Carp fishing capital of the world.” Later this month, it will host the 16th annual International Jr. Carp Tournament. Since it’s inception, the tournament has hosted almost 1,500 boys and girls ages 11 though 18 from as far away as Russia, Japan, Europe and Canada. In the last tournament, held in 2018, 99 anglers caught and released 2,611 pounds of carp.
