Calm take-off

It’s 7:10 and this is the calmest take off ever, certainly for this year. The opening round guys are simply idling away from the dock. It’s kind of nice.

Then all hell breaks loose. The quiet was too good to be true. After a short run we’ve settled on a small island where it appears Dave Lefebre and Steve Kennedy have decided to start. Hundreds of miles of shoreline and these two are in the same spot.

But that’s what these next few days will be all about: 8 guys in the same fix (out of the Classic) and only one getting to go. It’s like throwing these guys in a dark room and tossing in a bat, then shutting the door.

Not a lot of fun for the 8, but interesting to watch for the rest of us.

At 7:30, the bat gets thrown into this small room and the fight will begin.
