Blaylock covering water

Blaylock picks back up and chunks a swimbait down the bank.

After seeing him close to Green Pond, then outside the mouth of the Seneca River, then inside the Seneca, I figured Stetson Blaylock might stay close all day. Then he picked up stakes and made a 10 minute down the lake, gallery in tow.

We took our time getting here, and in the meantime, Jason Christie added a limit fish to pull himself within 2 pounds of the lead. Obviously, neither of them knows that, but things are tightening up.

Since we started following Blaylock we’ve seen him land and release three bass without even measuring or weighing them. He had three relatively small (under 3 pounds) fish in the livewell, and it sounds like it would be easy to trade them out for bigger models, but that’s easier said than done.

As I typed that he hooked up with a fish that he had to baby into the boat. He got into the passenger seat, swiped at it once, and then grabbed it. Even from a distance, I can tell that it’ll help him. Substantially. Did we just see the Classic winning fish?

Did we just see a Classic champ in the making?

Time will tell.
