Drew Benton didn’t hesitate when asked yesterday to predict today’s outcome. He said someone is going to catch 30 pounds and win this tournament sight-fishing. He did not say it was going to be him. But after Benton caught a 7-pounder at 12:23, he has definitely put himself in contention to win. He’s got 19-10 today on BassTrakk, which puts him in second place, only 2-12 behind leader Buddy Gross.
Gross started the day in 6th place with 55-5. Benton began the day in 8th place with 54-1.
