AOY movers

The Toyota Bassmaster Angler of the Year race is subject to change without notice, and that counts for every day remaining in the season. That is 6 1/2 days remaining.

According to the very unofficial BASSTrakk, a few anglers are making moves this morning that could matter at the end.

Topping the list is Aaron Martens, the tournament leader, who ranks 43rd in the AOY standings going into today. Most important for Martens is the move will help nudge him toward a berth in the world championship.

Others benefitting from the morning flurry include Matt Lee (47th) and Matt Herren (50th).

Toward the top is Jacob Wheeler, 8th in the BASSTrakk standings and 5th in AOY. If Wheeler’s momentum in this tournament, and the next, continues that puts him in contention to at least make the AOY leaders nervous.

Don’t count Brandon Palaniuk in on that list. He leads AOY but his unflappable style of fishing keeps him calm, even in stressful conditions. Case in point is this morning, when Palaniuk lost a couple of crucial 4 pounders at the boat. Undaunted, he quickly rebooted his mind and got back into the action.
