Anyone in the Top 10 can win

It’s a rare Bassmaster Elite Series final day that begins with a tie for first place and a Top 10 separated by less than 6 pounds on a fishery with the potential of Pickwick Lake. Cory Johnston best demonstrated that potential on Day 3 with a 25-pound, 5-ounce limit that rocketed him from 22nd place into third place. He’s only 3-9 behind the two leaders — Bill Lowen and Chad Pipkens, who have 62-10.

It’s the big bass possibilities in Pickwick that make this anyone’s game on Championship Tuesday. Johnston’s 7-pound, 2-ounce big bass of the day fueled his rise among the leaders.

But consistency isn’t easy on this lake. It keeps changing as the flood conditions that forced a two-day postponement settle back into a more normal flow in the Tennessee River.

“I think just figuring it out as the tournament has gone on was a big part of it,” Johnston said of his big day.
