The acrobatics of northern smallies

After touring all over the country with the Bassmaster Elite Series and photographing the catching of about every fish known to man, I don’t think there is a fish alive that is more acrobatic than northern smallmouth bass. Lee Livesay was ecstatic this morning when this 3 1/2 pound smallmouth leaped 3 feet in the air. The look on his face was priceless. These fish sometimes come from depths of 25 to 30 feet to blast a topwater bait.
