Stewart having a better day

Unfortunately for them the last two days, Jon "Scooter" Griffith and John Stewart are demonstrating the power of their combined fishing skills. That was a good thing Wednesday and Thursday when the Arizona teammates finished third in the Toyota Bonus Bucks Bassmaster Team Championship.

But in this individual format, it hasn't worked out so well. Griffith caught 'em Friday when Stewart zeroed. Now Stewart is catching 'em while Griffith struggles.

Stewart has caught three better-than-average keeper spotted bass today, and six fish total.

Griffith had only one keeper spot in the boat at last report. And he just lost "a possible game-changer" that broke his 8-pound test line.

"I'm going to take that as a positive sign, rather than a heartache," Griffith said.

What's a "game-changer" on this lake? Well, a 12-pounder was caught here in September, according to Flannagan Fife, and there are some 8s and 9s in DeGray, he said.

But the biggest fish weighed over the previous three days was a 5-11 on the first day of the team championship. A 5-0 was big bass on the second day. Fife's 3-0 took big bass honors yesterday.
