Avena last in the water

Our afternoon round of fishing began at 12:30, and at 12:15 Adrian Avena was nowhere in sight. Speculation began that maybe he had slept in, or had the wrong start time, or a variety of other scenarios. But at 12:20 Avena came rushing down to the ramp. And by 12:30 he made it to his first spot and began fishing, right on time. Just like he planned it that way.

When asked if his alarm didn’t go off the New Jersey angler said no, in fact he had been scrambling around to tackle stores trying to find a couple of specific baits. He did find them after driving, “for like four hours,” he said. “We’ll see if they help out.”
