The following five questions cover some of the activities Rojas uses to unwind. Not surprisingly, both fishing and family time are high on the list.

What is your favorite downtime activity?

Rojas’ favorite activity is off-road travel in his side-by-side ATV. Rojas and his family live in ideal surroundings for the popular western pastime. Day trips into the desert, some up to 50 miles one-way, make for a great way to unwind. “We also enjoy the camping side of it and taking in the beauty of nature in the desert.” Most of all he says getting off the grid is a great escape from the rigors of competing in a bass boat.

Do you ever fish during during the off-season?

Rojas goes fishing with his son. Every fishing dad can relate to it. A close second favorite to family off-road travel is fishing with his sons Cameron and Austin (shown). “Fishing is something that I love and have a passion for, so to see them get excited makes what I do in my career even more rewarding.”

What is a sport (besides fishing) that you enjoy?

At a very young age Rojas' family moved from New York state to San Diego, where he took up fishing and golf. Swinging a club is on his favorites list and for good reason. Rojas shared his adopted hometown with San Diego native Phil Mickelson. “I played golf in high school and got to play a couple rounds with him when I was 15 years old.” Today, Rojas lives in the golf-friendly oasis of Havasu City, Ariz., where he enjoys playing with friends and family.

What is another downtime activity you enjoy?

Family time easily makes the list, especially when you travel over half the year and have a wife and two sons at home. High on Rojas' list is spending time with wife Renee (shown) and sons Cameron and Austin. “I even like to go shopping with my wife and just do anything with them together.” Of course, that includes the off-roading, fishing and golf around their hometown.

What are you most known for besides your fishing career?

In the bass fishing world Rojas is most known for designing and refining “Kermit,” the common name given to his signature plastic frog. The fake amphibian had been around a long time, until Rojas tinkered with the design to make it more lifelike. Many of his Top 10 finishes came on the frog, although he gets credit for a hand in designing many other lures. “I really like creating new baits, watching them take life from a simple pencil and paper sketch.”
