Tom White and Harrison Saint of Team Barrabass won Australia's youth championship with 4.41 kg of Australian bass.

LAKE SOMERSET, Australia — Harrison Saint and Tom White of Team Barrabass won the Atomic B.A.S.S. Australia Nation Youth Championship, Sept. 24-25, on Lake Somerset with 4.41 kg.

The teammates also won the 14- to 18-year-olds division. They caught their Australian bass slow rolling Slider Grubs then dropping them to the bottom, where the bass struck.

“These guys seem very competent,” said Drew McGrath, president of the Australia B.A.S.S. Nation, “and we look forward to following their progress over the years ahead.”

In second place was Team Fish Candy — Chasebaits, made up of Sienna Shrembri and Caleb Shrembri. The siblings also won the 7- to 13-year-olds division. It was their first tournament.

Aiden and Charlotte Whiteman, or team Smak Kids, took third place with 2.36 kg. The team of Bassman Spinnerbaits, made up of Anthony Melchior and Mackenzie Luck, ended in fourth place, followed by Maverick Linton, who made up the one-person team of Nomad Tackle.

“It won’t be long until we see these anglers competing in the top level tournaments,” said McGrath. “They have a huge amount of ability and are already media-savvy, so keep an eye on them.”
