What is it?
Deps’ newest topwater popping bait, the Pulse Cod.
It does the chugger/popper things, but with more detail than your average popper
To dupe the bass that have seen countless other topwater chugger/poppers.
Use it how you’re most comfortable, and if that isn’t getting bit, change it up. Either pause longer or shorter between twitches. Most anglers like to use poppers around visible cover like stumps. Cast beyond the target, and begin twitching and popping it past, even knocking into it. These are also great in the postspawn as bass are guarding fry.
Internally, the Pulse Cod is unlike any other topwater on the market. A weight rests on a spring inside that knocks against the plastic body as the bait is worked. At rest, the spring bounces inside the bait for up to 10 seconds, sending vibrations (pulses) through the water. The extra-wide, flat cupped mouth is also said to create more of a boil rather than a spit or pop. It weighs 1/2 ounce and can be had in six colors. A large feathered treble excels at nabbing short-strikers.
