Gear Review: 4×4 Tharp Bluegill Jig

What is it?

4×4 Tharp Bluegill Jig

What does it do?

Swim jig that presents the color and profile of a small bluegill, which is perfect for hungry bass lurking in open water or near cover.

What sets it apart?

The swim jig presents a very attractive profile to lurking bass that are hunting for a bluegill sandwich. It swims true, and easily navigates dense cover thanks to the precisely angled fiber weedguard. The jig also comes standard with a wire keeper that locks soft-plastic trailers into place.

How do I use it?

The jig can be worked along the bottom in a traditional jig-fishing sense, or it can swim above, next to or in the middle of brush piles and laydowns. But it also works well on rocky shorelines, and even in open water. The jig is available in three sizes: 1/4-, 3/8- and 1/2-ounce models.

How much?

Editor insight:

This jig was designed by one of the best jig fishermen in the game, so you know it’s built to call big bass from their lairs to eat, and it’ll keep them stuck all the way back to the boat. This is a jig that’ll work well wherever a jig will play. It’s a good idea to keep a few on–hand.
