Z-Man ChatterBait Elite

This is the hot rod of all bladed jigs.

What is it?

Z-Man’s newest — and possibly best — ChatterBait, the ChatterBait Elite.

What does it do?

It’s reported to appeal to more bass thanks to a host of upgrades, and stick more of the ones that bite.

How do I use it?

ChatterBaits are very versatile by nature. They’re at home in stumpy shallows in the lighter versions, and are equally well suited for slow-rolling through deep timber or along ledges or other deep structure. When burned, they have an erratic action unlike any other bladed jig. No doubt you’ve heard that ChatterBaits are big-bass lures, too. It’s true. Like a big swimbait or buzzbait, ChatterBaits just seem to have a knack for catching larger fish. Ask Bassmaster Elite Series pros Casey Ashley and David Walker. The Elite is a no-frills, all business ChatterBait with everything the pros want.

What sets it apart?

The hook is a barbaric 5/0 Gamakatsu that’s designed to stick fish that so much as look at the bait wrong. The skirt is Z-Man’s EZ Skirt, which can be swapped in a matter of seconds. The collar holding it is a low-profile design that won’t hinder hookups or action. The head is also painted to match the skirt. It’s 4 1/2 inches in length and available in 3/8- and 1/2-ounce sizes. Eight different colors are available.
