Tharp will be near the top

Despite what you may have noticed in a previous blog post, Randall Tharp has considerably more than zero pounds, as currently indicated on BASSTrakk. That zero was due to technical difficulties. Tharp’s marshal reports that he has 20 pounds-plus.

Tharp’s eighth-place finish in the Elite Series opener put a big smile on his face, knowing Lake Okeechobee was the next stop. It’s no secret why. This week Tharp was one of the most popular picks in Bassmaster Fantasy Fishing history.

“My track record there speaks for itself,” Tharp said after the Day 4 weigh-in in Knoxville. “I loved that lake the first time I ever went there. Nobody showed me around that lake. It just suits my eye really good.”

Tharp’s track record at Okeechobee, all on the FLW circuit, all in February, is as follows: 4th in 2014, 15th in 2013, 1st in 2012, and 2nd in 2011.

“If I’ve got a home lake, I’m guessing I’ve spent more time there than anywhere else,” he said.
