Dare to fail!

I have been writing this blog for a year now, and hopefully you have enjoyed it as much as I have.  I have tried to relay a positive message to enjoy life, always see the glass half full, and to chase your dreams.  I am happy with this blog if I can make someone laugh, inspire someone to reach a goal, or influence one person to have a more optimistic look on life.

For the last year, I have ended every blog with one of my favorite sayings, “Chase your dreams”.  It is how I live my life, and is the reason that I am fishing the Elite Series.  It is a great message that I hope everybody lives by.  Another one of my favorites is “If you’re going to dream, dream big”.  A new saying that I have adopted that heard from one of my marshals is “Dare to fail”.  It is pretty inspirational and is how I want to live every day.

Life is all about taking chances.  You can’t be scared of failure.  Failure will happen; it’s a part of life.  We only have one life to live and to live life to the fullest, you can’t be scared to take chances and possibly fail.  Failure makes us who we are.  It makes us stronger.  Whether its bass fishing, running your own business, or training to be an Olympic athlete…it’s all about taking chances.

When I’m fishing, I want to take chances, big chances, and not think twice about bombing and only coming in with a few small fish.  If I have a gut feeling to try something different or go to a new part of the lake during a tournament day, I want to do it.  I don’t want to look back, second guess, or have any regrets.  If I do fail, then I will set my sights on the next tournament.  If I succeed, then I will know that the success came from the chances that I took.

So, whether its bass fishing or life in general, don’t worry about failure.  Thomas Edison failed 10,000 times trying to create the light bulb.  He said, “I have not failed.  I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work”.  Failure makes us better, smarter, and more successful.  You really only fail when you quit!
