Britt Myers is not only a Bassmaster Elite Series pro; he’s also the owner of CS Motorsports, an automotive customization center in North Carolina. Toyota asked Myers to build the Ultimate Fishing Tundra, a truck that would meet an angler’s needs more than any other vehicle available.
The truck was unveiled this week at the SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) show in Las Vegas. It’s the biggest aftermarket auto event in the world. But he gave anglers a sneak peek at the truck two weeks ago in Charlotte, N.C., at the Toyota Trucks Bonus Bucks Owners Tournament.
Note the extension on the back of the truck. “You can push a button and the entire bed comes out, full of tackle,” Myers said. “It looks like an aisle at Bass Pro Shops.”
The pull-out bed holds a refrigerator, a line-spooling station and tackle storage space. On top of the cab are two rod tubes that hold up to 40 rods.
The bed extends a full 6 feet.
Here is a closer look at the driver’s side of the pull-out bed.
On the passenger side, line and lures hang from pegs, and reels are on display for easy retrieval.
“It’s a big, mean-looking truck,” said Myers. “It looks like you can knock over a building with it.”
Bassmaster Elite Series pros Michael Iaconelli, Kevin VanDam, Terry Scroggins and Gerald Swindle offered their input to Myers on the customization of the truck.
Myers shows the finished product to the pros who shared their thoughts. “This is a freak-nasty truck,” said VanDam as he and the other pros admire the features.
The truck has a 12-inch suspension lift kit on it, so to help the driver and passengers get in, the step folds out automatically.
A bumper step drops down so the angler can access the tackle in the pull-out bed.
The tires are 38 inches with 20-inch ATX wheels.
The Ultimate Fishing Tundra includes Fox shocks and a TRD Big Brake kit.
The Fox suspension system keeps the ride smooth, no matter how bumpy an area the angler is traveling.
Inside, the cab is trimmed with a sporty yellow on the dash and console.
A fishy pattern adorns the armrests, steering wheel and center console.
A control panel allows the angler to control the exterior LED lighting from the cab.
A TV monitor is installed in the console, and an angler can watch fishing videos and view Navionics maps on it.
The front doors have custom panels that house extra speakers and video monitors.
Myers focused on details that really made the features of the truck come to life.
Myers replaced the rear bench with bucket seats and custom-built a fiberglass console that stretches from the dash to the rear cab wall with built-in video monitors and subwoofers.
The Ultimate Fishing Tundra comes with a custom Fab Four pre-runner style front bumper.
If you’re stuck, you’ll have no trouble pulling yourself out with the truck’s heavy-duty winch system.
The grill is custom and includes LED lighting.
The gray matte wrap on the truck is complemented by bumper and fender flares to match.
“I’ve been having a lot of fun with this project,” said Myers. You can see this truck on display all next year on each stop of the 2013 Bassmaster Elite Series.
