<p>I spent a few days on Lake Guntersville for the first time before our Jan. 1 off limits period and I'm glad I did. I mainly drove around learning where proven areas were in relation to the Bassmaster Classic launch site, but I also did some fishing. I quickly figured a winter pattern (casting a Strike King football jig/Rage Craw) that held up throughout the lake, which told me Guntersville bass are pattern able. I also learned that in the past, early spring tournaments have been won in "areas" in which you camp. What approach will prevail in February? I'll let the conditions decide but for now, I will focus on keeping an open mind and knowing it's all or nothing at the 2014 Bassmaster Classic! – Chris Zaldain, Dec. 29, <strong><a href=

I did not fish much while I was down there scouting for the #Bassmasterclassic but every now and then I had to wet a line. Guntersville is an awesome fishery and I can’t get over how hard these fish hit a trap in 47 degree water. I now understand why people move down there.
