Behind the scenes at Chesapeake Bay

Check out the behind-the-scenes action from Day 1 of the Huk Performance Fishing Bassmaster Elite on the Chesapeake Bay.

Huk, as well as other sponsors, had booths set up so the fishing fans around North East, Md., could check out all they had to offer.

Shirts of all sizes, hats and other goodies were available.

Now check out the action from the water as anglers arrive to check-in and see where they will land on the leaderboard…

Jacob Powroznik was the first angler back to the docks. The Virginian was a favorite going into this event and didn’t disappoint as he sits tied for 6th place after Day 1.

Brett Hite arrived soon after. He sits tied for 28th with 10 pounds, 12 ounces.

Chad Pipkens shows off a good one from his second place bag. He weighed 16 pounds, 14 ounces.

Another good one from Pipkens Day 1 on the Chesapeake.

Ken Iyobe shows off a good one as well. Quality was on tap, but quantity was harder to come by.

Morizo Shimizu sits in third place after he found Big Momma on Day 1.

James Niggemeyer can’t help but smile after weighing enough to be in the Top 10.

Kevin VanDam only brought three to the scales, but he still sits in 44th place.

Marty Robinson was proud that he found a decent fish on Day 1. The Chesapeake Bay has been stingy in practice and it also rolled over into the first day of the Huk Performance Fishing Bassmaster Elite.

Josh Bertrand bags his fish while Tyler Wade from BASS videos his Day 1 catches via a new app called Periscope.

Bertrand had a mixed bag with smallmouth and largemouth.

Keith Poche bags up his Upper Bay bass.

Carl Jocumsen shows off a dandy. He weighed four fish for over 14 pounds and is just outside the Top 10.

…And pulls out a nice four pounder from the Chesapeake Bay. Most have heard the news that this is the last season that Kevin Short will fish the Bassmaster Elite Series. He will be missed and we are happy to have spent over the last decade with him.
