Simcoe bass benefit from 150-tree drop

Barrie Bassmasters members add 150 Christmas trees to Lake Simcoe for fish habitat.

Ontario’s Barrie Bassmasters members dropped approximately 150 Christmas trees into Lake Simcoe in 2011 in an effort to improve the fish habitat. The trees are leftovers collected from a local tree farm. The club works in conjunction with Junior Bassmaster anglers, in addition to a local college that provides a barge and a local business that supplies cinder blocks.

In all, 17 volunteers donated a combined 170 man-hours of their time to complete the project.
