Opens angler hosts giveaway for charity in conjunction with B.A.S.S. Nation Championship

The Jim Dillard Boat Giveaway will benefit the Mia Moo Fund, a worldwide nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness and funds toward research, treatments and causes of cleft palate.

Bassmaster Opens angler Jim Dillard felt he had the perfect platform to raise awareness for a charity that was founded in his hometown of West Monroe, La., when B.A.S.S. announced its 2014 Old Milwaukee B.A.S.S. Nation Championship would be held on the Ouachita River.

“Because the B.A.S.S. Nation Championship is in our hometown this year, I knew it would be the perfect place to end this giveaway and bring attention to a charity that’s so close to our hearts,” Dillard said.

The Jim Dillard Boat Giveaway will benefit the Mia Moo Fund, a worldwide nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness and funds toward research, treatments and causes of cleft palate.

The Mia Moo Fund began in 2014 after Mia Robertson, daughter of Jase and Missy Robertson of the famed Duck Dynasty family, completed surgery for her cleft palate.

“As Mia entered surgery, thousands of supportive fans tweeted, blogged and talked about how strong and beautiful she was,” reads the Mia Moo Fund’s website. “It was both empowering and inspiring. It has since become our mission to bring this type of support and love to each and every child who suffers from cleft lip and palate.”

“It was an easy decision for me when I chose to support the Mia Moo Fund,” Dillard said. “Jase and I have known each other for most of our lives, and this is an organization that is really close to our hearts. I also know that all the money raised will go directly the families of children in need.”

Anyone can purchase tickets through Nov. 7 at midnight. The price of one ticket is $20, but there is no limit to the number of tickets each person can purchase. Ticket sales are only available to individuals who are age 21 or older, and all contestants must abide by applicable federal and state laws and regulations.

All proceeds will go to the Mia Moo Fund to help generate awareness and directly help U.S. children with cleft lip and palate who need financial assistance.

Each entrant will receive a unique number for each ticket purchased. The raffle drawing is scheduled to take place on Nov. 8, where all numbers will be placed in a box. If your number is drawn, then you win!

The giveaway’s total donation to the Mia Moo Fund will be presented to Mia, Missy and family matriarch Miss Kay on the Bassmaster stage Saturday, Nov. 8, during the B.A.S.S. Nation Championship final weigh-in.

“We’re pleased that one of our Opens anglers has chosen to support this great charity, and we’re so honored that the Mia Moo Fund and Jim have chosen to use the B.A.S.S. Nation stage to recognize their fundraising efforts,” said B.A.S.S. Nation director Jon Stewart.
