Naval officer serves as Marshal

David Holloway chose to spend his leave time in the boat with the pros at the St. Johns River Showdown.

PALATKA, Fla. — David Holloway, petty officer 1st class in the U.S. Navy, is spending his leave this week on the water.

Based in Georgia at Kings Bay Submarine Base, Holloway came to the St. Johns River last week to compete in his bass club’s event. Then he signed on as a Marshal (official observer in the pro’s boat) for the St. Johns River Showdown. He rode out with Kyle Fox on Thursday and with Gerald Swindle on Friday.

“I am loving this. It’s pretty intriguing to watch the pros,” Holloway said.
