The Bass Fishing Hall of Fame (BFHOF) today announced that Mark Davis will serve as keynote speaker at the upcoming BFHOF Induction Dinner, to be held in Tulsa, Okla., concurrent with the Bassmaster Classic, where Davis will be one of 53 competitors.
Across his 27-year career, Davis has reached pinnacles few can match. He's a three-time B.A.S.S. Angler of the Year (2001, 1998, 1995) and Bassmaster Classic champion (1995). Until recently, he was the only angler ever to win Angler of the Year and the Classic in the same season. Through competition in both B.A.S.S. and FLW, he's fast approaching the $2 million mark in career earnings. He claims six victories, 53 top-10s, 16 Classic appearances and three Forrest Wood Cup appearances.
Davis is widely recognized as not only a champion within the sport, but one who loudly champions the sport itself. He has always been, and remains, a fan favorite and an intense and active voice for angler issues. He was a critical force in the formation of both the original and modern Professional Anglers Associations. Additionally, he was one of the first to draw attention to the fact that professional anglers face significant injury risk, when he himself underwent dual surgery in 1999, then surgery again in 2004 to repair fishing-related afflictions.
“The Bass Fishing Hall of Fame is honored to feature Mark Davis as a keynote speaker, and humbled that he reserves time from his rigorous Classic competition schedule to share with attendees his wisdom and vision,” said BFHOF president Sammy Lee. “Mark is a class act and a true voice and advocate for the sport. We're all in for a huge treat."
In recognition of their major impacts upon the world of bass fishing, tournament angler Mike Folkestad, fishing electronics innovator Darrell Lowrance and legendary guide, educator and lodge owner Jack Wingate represent the 2013 list of inductees to be honored at the dinner.
The BFHOF Induction Banquet takes place on Friday evening, February 22, 2013 at the Hilton Doubletree Hotel in Tulsa, Okla. Dinner and induction ceremony tickets are now available for $100 per person or priority location tables for $1,000.
