Free workshop in Utah

If you live near Salt Lake City, Utah, you have a chance to attend a free workshop on black bass on Saturday, Feb. 7.

SALT LAKE CITY — If you live near Salt Lake City, Utah, you have a chance to attend a free workshop on black bass on Saturday, Feb. 7.

Gene Gilliland, B.A.S.S.'s national conservation director, will talk to attendees about angler and agency interactions, and Rick Culver, the president of the Utah B.A.S.S. Nation, will speak about the benefits of belonging to a bass club.

Other topics include bass management issues in Pelican Lake, Pineview Lake and Jordanelle Lake; the devastating effects of illegal fish transplants and how to get involved in bass management. And if you don't know how to catch bass in Utah, listen as Dan Smith of Fish Tech Outfitters and competitive angler Jerry Schlief tell you how and where to find them.

The workshop is presented by the Utah Department of Wildlife Resources, Berkley, the Utah B.A.S.S. Nation and Blue Ribbon Fisheries.

The Black Bass Workshop orkshop is from 9 a.m .to 3:30 p.m., Feb. 7, at the Utah Department of Natural Resources, 1594 W. North Temple, Salt Lake City, UT 84116. Admission is free, and attendees will be able to win prizes.
