Classic pros choose their favorite tunes

The song can make the man, at least that's the way some pros see it. The tunes can set the tone for the angler at the weigh-in: fast and funky, patriotic, or slow and smooth.

Choosing the tunes that get cranked through the loudspeakers when you step off your boat is one of the perks a professional angler has when fishing the Bassmaster Classic or the Bassmaster Elite Series events. The contenders tend to choose songs that reflect their personality or age or, in some cases, sponsors.

One of the most asked about songs on B.A.S.S.’s Facebook page and Twitter account was eventual winner Chris Lane’s theme song, Power-Pole Down by Rodney Clawson.

“Rodney is a friend of mine from Nashville,” said Lane, “and he has written songs for George Strait, like ‘I Saw God Today.’” Clawson also has written songs for Casey Ashley, like “Fisherman,” and fishes Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Open events and the B.A.S.S. Federation Nation.

Below are some of the other songs chosen by the anglers for their walk-in music. Which do you feel are most appropriate, and what song would you choose if you were fishing the Classic?
