SUMMERLAND KEY, Fla. — Celebrate the birthday of the late fishing legend Jose Wejebe this weekend by posting your fishing photos in social media with the hashtag #fishforjose. His birthday is Jan. 18.
This promotion is an effort to keep Wejebe’s legacy alive through the Jose Wejebe Spanish Fly Memorial Foundation. Last year was the first year of the promotion, and it generated 1.3 million impressions.
“Just like last year, I’m asking friends, family and fans of my father to take a picture of how they’ll celebrate his birthday, then post it on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, a website, anywhere online, and use the hashtag #fishforjose to share their same passion as my Father,” said Krissy Wejebe, Jose’s daughter.
To help spread the Wejebe, get out on the water, introduce someone to the sport, learn or teach something new, and release the fish you catch.
