Best Bass Lakes of 2012: Lake Minnetonka

Lake Minnetonka has been a favorite destination of multispecies anglers as far back as 1907.

This storied bass fishery has been a favorite destination of multispecies anglers as far back as 1907 when a cottage retreat was built on Crane Island. Bass were long considered pesky rodents that got in the way of more precious game fish like walleye and pike. Now, however, Micropterus is a main attraction. Anglers can expect incredible numbers of 3- to 5-pound largemouth and smallmouth bass. If you fish a tournament there, expect 25 pounds to win. Although this lake gets more pressure than some of the smaller waters in the area, its 14,000-plussurface acres continue to produce like crazy.
