B.A.S.S. wins $5,000 for conservation

Nationwide Insurance awarded B.A.S.S. Conservation a contribution of $5,000 in Nationwide’s Preserve Your Passion contest.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Nationwide Insurance awarded B.A.S.S. Conservation a contribution of $5,000 in Nationwide’s Preserve Your Passion contest.

The program chose seven conservation programs and let outdoorsmen choose which organization would receive the lion’s share of a $75,000 contribution. The National Wild Turkey Federation won the overall prize of $45,000. Runners-up received gifts of $5,000.

“On behalf of B.A.S.S. Conservation, I want to send a big thanks to Nationwide for helping our efforts to preserve our aquatic resources,” said Gene Gilliland, B.A.S.S. conservation director. “These funds will go into our FishAmerica Foundation/B.A.S.S. Conservation Grant account. It will allow us to provide a grant in 2015 from Nationwide’s previous contribution and have a reserve ready for the 2016 grant cycle.”

B.A.S.S. appreciates all the outdoorsmen who participated in any way. A vote for protecting any of the nation’s resources — bass, turkey, deer, etc. — is a vote for the future.
