Auburn’s Jordan Lee advances to Day 3

Jordan Lee is the first college angler to make the Top 25 cut in a Bassmaster Classic.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Jordan Lee made history today by being the first Carhartt Bassmaster College Series angler to advance to Day 3 in the Classic.

Lee, who had a dismal 40th-place standing on Day 1 with 13 pounds, 7 ounces, rallied on Day 2 to make up enormous ground and put him in contention for the title.

Lee caught his five bass, weighing a whopping 24 pounds even, in only three hours. He ended today in 14th place, well within the Top 25 cut.

One of those bass was an 8-pound, 8-ounce monster that earned daily Carhartt Big Bass honors.

"Today was a great day," said Lee, who hails from Auburn University. "I had a tough morning and really rallied back at the end of the day.

"I'm really looking forward to fishing the final day."

Competition concludes tomorrow on Lake Guntersville.
