Indiana DNR adds ‘fish houses’ to Sullivan Lake

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources Fisheries Division is getting into habitat enhancement in a big way with projects like the one in this video at Sullivan Lake. The DNR is using structures made popular in other states, such as the wooden Pennsylvania porcupine cribs and the PVC Georgia cubes.

Volunteers from several bass fishing organizations are helping build the various structures as well as raise funds to pay for the materials. DNR staff members then place the “fish houses” in the lake and post their GPS coordinates for anglers.

Indiana bass anglers who want to get involved in these projects can email Sandy Clark-Kolaks at sclark-kolaks@dnr.in.gov.
