Wheeler has more weight than we thought

Jacob Wheeler just made a short move and we got a chance to speak with him for a moment – a clarifying moment. That "6-pounder" guess I made earlier was off a bit. Okay, more than a bit. Wheeler said it weighed 7 1/2 pounds. The last fish he caught, which came out of the same place, weighs 4 1/2 pounds. Wheeler's first bass of the day weighs 1 3/4, he says.

So that gives him 3 fish totaling 13 3/4 pounds.

The boat traffic got crazy in that area where he caught the last two, real crazy. Wheeler frequently waved one hand high in the air, trying  to divert everything from jet skis to bass boats to party barges from the area where he'd placed a marker buoy.

He's made a couple of quick stops moving back down the lake again. The discharge from Chickamauga Dam has held at 27,000 cubic feet per second for the last three hours. As one local angler told me earlier in the week, "Anything from mid 20s (20,000 cfs) and up is good," for ledge fishing.
