Howell makes a move

With 15 minutes left in the game, Randy Howell picked up his trolling motor and made a short move below the confluence of the Holston and French Broad rivers. His first cast appeared to be a game-changer, but he set the hook on a small pike.

Under the scoring rules, if David Walker would catch a bass weighing at least .40 pounds right now, it would tie this game at 10-10.

In football terms, this has definitely been a defensive battle. That gizzard shad Walker caught earlier and Howell's pike would be the equivalent of missed field goals, I guess.

Eight minutes and counting to the final gun.

Then Howell lands a "key-chain size" smallmouth bass.

"This is unbelievable," Howell says. "I guess all I can say is, roll Tide."
