Looks like a good day for smallmouth bass fishing

The wind is blowing and the sun is shining as Day 2 starts on the St. Lawrence River. The Elite Series anglers liked what they saw before the 6:15 a.m. takeoff – especially the site of flags flapping in a 10 to 15 mph west/southwest wind.

"Smallmouth bass like wind and sun," said Bernie Schultz, who starts the day in third place with 21-7.

And that's what's predicted for today – 65 degrees at takeoff, high of 82, only a 10 percent chance of rain.

It didn't take Brandon Lester long to get on the board this morning. He had two small keepers in the boat by 6:35.
