Chris Zaldain was talking to this group of guys as if he knew them. Turns out he does. These guys all grew up with Zaldain in San Jose, Calif. They made the two hour trek to see their buddy fish. From left that's Steve LaRussa, Jerry Fournier, Anthony Lee, Andres Mendivil, and Kyle Sackman. And their fishing and hunting dog Max is slightly out of the picture. "We grew up fishing here," said LaRussa, who is a relative of the famous baseball coach with the same last name. "It took a long time before we got good at finding our way around."
With Zaldain having zero in the Livewell I mentioned it's possible they had brought him bad luck. "I believe in that stuff," said LaRussa. With that they all decided to move around the bend to see if that improved Zaldain's luck.
Update: soon after the friends left, Zaldain caught four fish!
