A hot start to Day 3

The daily tide change may be the reason for a particularly hot start to Day 3. There were four bass caught weighing between 4 and 7 pounds in the 15-minute period between 8:29 and 8:44

Justin Lucas alluded to that possibility yesterday when he noted that today's tide would be higher than it was when they started the previous two days, which, "Might be better for flipping."

Dean Rojas, with a 6-8, and Aaron Martens, with a 5-8, got the day off to a hot start at 8:29 a.m. Cliff Prince caught a 7-0 at8:42. Ish Monroe added a 4-0 on a frog at 8:44.

However, we're now moving into the falling-tide pattern that has been so unproductive the previous two days.

"Launching at a mid-outgoing tide – that's three whole hours of crappy fishing, in my opinion," Chris Zaldain said Friday.

But there's also a chance that these guys have figured out some areas and techniques to overcome the less-than-ideal tide change that's on the way.
