Lane in his comfort zone now

With a limit weighing about 10 pounds in the boat today, Chris Lane is in the same position he was yesterday when he weighed-in a tournament leading 15-10.

If you can put five in the boat here, then you can make a little bit of a gamble," Lane said at Thursday's weigh-in. "You can slow down a little and try to catch some bigger fish, work them a little different than when you're just trying to catch five.

He had five in the boat around 11 a.m. yesterday. Lane noted that tide changes significantly change the bite. But the tide changes here are subtle, you don't see those big changes in depth, like the seven-foot swing these guys experienced on the Delaware River last season.

Lane found the magic tide window yesterday and capitalized, turning a 10-pound limit into 15-10.

"I culled three times within that hour," he said. "I think those were the three biggest fish I've ever caught on the Sabine River."

Those three were two "pushing four pounds" and another about three pounds.
