Our media boat driver today is Captain Jim Burkes. He’s been a fishing guide on Lake Guntersville for 16 years. Jim is a native of North Alabama and takes clients fishing around 80 days of the year. He works with beginners and seasoned anglers too. For the experienced anglers he makes the lake smaller for them, and helps them find the right pattern. One of the things he likes best about his job is teaching kids to fish. Spring is his busiest time of year. And the biggest fish one of his clients have caught with him is a 10 pound, 4-ouncer.
I asked him what most anglers need to learn, he said, “Patience. Most need to slow down. Me included.”
