Word of the tournament: Timing

Following Mike Iaconelli on the Delaware River last year provided a case study in the importance of timing on a tidal river system. Iaconelli knew exactly where to go throughout the day on an hour-to-hour basis.

Jacob Powroznik is the guy who has that type of intimate knowledge on Chesapeake Bay. In an earlier blog post, Powroznik reportedly said that prime time today will be 1 p.m. It's important to remember that doesn't mean it's going to be prime time everywhere in Chesapeake Bay. Powroznik is talking about a particular place. "Timing" is going to be a word you hear a lot this week.

"Somebody might get one bite on some of these places, but I can come right behind them at the right time and get five or six bites," Powroznik said yesterday. "Whoever gets their timing down and can run it all four days will win this tournament."
